Mentorship
therapists, counsellors, students
Why Mentorship?
Whether you’re newly emerging or a seasoned therapist-
Our work is inherently transformative. The therapeutic relationship is paramount to the therapeutic process, and I believe the relationship is only as effective to the extent the therapist has an ongoing commitment to their own exploration and transformation.
In-Depth,
Intentional Dialogue
making space for you as a therapist & a person
As therapists, we grow, change, mature, and develop over the course of our careers. We are moved and changed by our encounters with clients: our worldviews grow, shatter, and expand. This can be incredibly beautiful, but also disorienting and at times painful. We may long for a relational holding space for this transformative process. We may find such through seeking therapy for ourselves, at multiple points throughout our lives. But we may also be seeking a different kind of relationship where we can enter as both a therapist and a person and explore the edges of ourselves in these areas.
My aim in providing mentorship is to do just that: to honour your person as a therapist by making space for the ways your encounters with clients impact you and provide support to the development of yourself as a therapist.
You may be a student in grad school, a new therapist, or a seasoned therapist. You may be finding your identity as a therapist, questioning what it means to be a therapist, or amidst a transformative process in your therapeutic approach and identity. You may also be curious about existential therapy and would like more support in integrating existential principles and approaches in your work.
Seeking mentorship means it is not so much that you need therapy, but you’re looking to have in-depth, intentional dialogue regarding your work as a therapist and would like someone to enter into this dialogue with you.

What’s the difference between mentorship and consultation?
Mentorship is about the development of you as a person-therapist. Although specific clients and your work may prompt some exploration, the focus is primarily on you and what it means for you to be a therapist. Consultation usually centres around a specific client case you need support with. Consultation does involve exploring your own experiences with the client, but the focus is still case-specific (not your development as a whole as is the case with mentorship).
